Experience Real Disaster Scenarios and Learn How to Cope
Honjo Life Safety Learning Center (located about 5 minutes from Kinshicho Station) offers a valuable opportunity to experience various disaster preparedness activities. It is especially beneficial for non-Japanese residents and tourists who may not be familiar with natural disasters in Japan. Some of the main features include:
Earthquake Simulation: Experience a realistic earthquake to understand how to react in such a situation.
Fire Safety: Learn to use fire extinguishers and indoor hydrants against simulated fires.
First Aid Training: Practice CPR using training dolls to provide proper first aid.Also, AED (automated external defibrillator) fitting experience.
Flood and Storm Simulations: Experience high winds, heavy rain, and walking in flood conditions.
Smoke Evacuation: Practice evacuation methods in simulated smoke environments.
Staff there are very friendly. The entire experience lasts around two hours. Reservations are not required for individual use, but there may be a wait depending on how busy it is; for group use of 10 or more people, a confirmation of use must be sent two weeks in advance. All experiences are free of charge.
