Guests simply book the service in advance, place their clothes in a dedicated laundry bag and leave it at the front desk in the morning. Their laundry is washed, dried and folded, ready for collection at MIMARU later that evening. The service also offers delivery to designated hotels in Tokyo’s 23 wards and the Maihama area, making it easier for travellers to manage their laundry even when moving from MIMARU to another hotel during their stay.
Laundry habits and expectations vary across countries and cultures. While doing one’s own laundry is common in Japan, professional wash-and-fold services are a familiar part of everyday life in some other countries and regions. To address these different needs, MIMARU has partnered with WASH&FOLD, which introduced the American wash-and-fold service model to Japan approximately 20 years ago and has continued to adapt and develop it for the Japanese market.

Family Holidays Still Come with Laundry
For families travelling with children, laundry can quickly pile up during days filled with sightseeing and activities. Sweaty clothes and everyday spills mean that the longer a family stays, the more washing there is to do. Washing clothes during a trip can help reduce the amount of luggage needed, but running a washing machine, waiting for clothes to dry and folding everything afterwards still takes considerable time.
MIMARU provides in-room or shared washing and drying facilities so guests can do their laundry whenever needed. However, washing clothes for an entire family still requires time and effort. MIMARU recognises this as one of the forms of “invisible housework” that continues even during a holiday.
“Same-day Laundry Service by MIMARU” is designed to ease this burden and give families more time to relax and enjoy being together.
Guests can place their everyday clothing in a dedicated laundry bag, which holds approximately three days’ worth of clothes for a family of four, and leave the entire washing, drying and folding process to the professionals.
Reservations must be made by 11:00 p.m. the previous day, with laundry dropped off at the MIMARU front desk by 9:00 a.m. on the day of service. Clean, folded clothing is available for collection from 8:00 p.m. that evening.
Delivery to designated hotels in Tokyo’s 23 wards and the Maihama area is also available, allowing guests to use the service even when checking out of MIMARU and moving to another hotel.
WASH&FOLD: Nearly 20 Years of Adapting an American Laundry Service to Japanese Lifestyles
WASH&FOLD introduced the American concept of professional wash-and-fold laundry services to Japan approximately 20 years ago.

Before the official launch, MIMARU conducted a trial of the service with guests staying at selected properties. Participants shared feedback on the time and effort involved in doing laundry while travelling, as well as the quality and convenience of the finished service.

Important notes: The service uses water washing and machine drying. It does not include ironing, stain removal or specialist dry-cleaning. Certain garments, including some delicate fabrics, cannot be accepted.
