MIMARU expands to 28 locations and 1,500 rooms, offering families more ways to explore Japan with Osaka as their base
On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, MIMARU Osaka Shinsaibashi Central will open in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi district as the 28th MIMARU location. With this opening, MIMARU will offer a total of 1,500 rooms. We will continue to accelerate our expansion towards our goal of reaching 3,000 rooms by 2030.
MIMARU Osaka Shinsaibashi Central is a two-minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line. Its location makes it easy to enjoy sightseeing and shopping around Osaka, including Dotonbori and Amerikamura, while also providing convenient access for journeys extending to Kyoto, Nara, Kobe and even Hiroshima.
All 66 rooms measure more than 40 square metres and are equipped with a kitchen, dining area and washer-dryer. Half of the rooms can accommodate up to six guests, allowing families with children, multigenerational families and groups of friends to stay together in the same space while enjoying Japan with Osaka as their travel base.

Demand for Travel to Japan Grows Across Diverse Markets, with Osaka Emerging as a Base for Kansai and Western Japan
International visitor arrivals to Japan totalled 21.08 million during the first half of 2026. Although this represented a 2.0% decrease from the same period of the previous year amid lower visitor numbers from China, demand continued to grow across many other markets.
Visitor numbers increased by 18.6% from South Korea, 20.9% from Taiwan, 7.1% from the United States, 13.0% from Indonesia, 14.6% from Malaysia and 22.9% from India.
Osaka welcomed an estimated 17.6 million international visitors in 2025, setting a new record. In addition to the increased global attention surrounding Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, the city has become a major base for travellers exploring Kansai and Western Japan. Key reasons include convenient access from Kansai International Airport, Osaka’s distinctive food culture and lively neighbourhoods, and easy connections to surrounding cities.
The reasons people visit Japan—and the ways they experience the country—are also becoming more diverse, with growing interest in exploring the distinctive culture of each region more deeply. Across Japan, every region has its own character, expressed through its streetscapes, food, language and the way people connect with one another.
MIMARU has developed locations across Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka where families and groups can stay together while using each city as a base for discovering more of Japan. As we work towards reaching 3,000 rooms by 2030, we will continue opening new locations and creating more opportunities for international travellers to experience the culture and everyday life of different regions, enabling them to explore Japan more widely and more deeply.

Rooms are designed for either four or six guests and include a kitchen, refrigerator, microwave, cookware and an in-room washer-dryer. Guests can bring back ingredients or prepared foods discovered around the city and enjoy a meal together. The in-room washer-dryer also supports longer stays and journeys with children, when laundry can quickly accumulate.
The newly introduced Two-Bunkbed Apartment features bunk beds designed to give each guest a greater sense of personal space. Its playful design is intended to spark children’s curiosity while also creating a relaxed and enjoyable space for groups of friends.
