Are any of these concerns familiar when choosing a hotel for your family trip to Tokyo?
“Hotel rooms in the city center are so small — I’m worried my child will fall out of bed.” “It’s too hard to eat out every meal when we need baby food or have to manage food allergies.” “There’s nowhere to take off shoes and let the baby crawl around.”
MIMARU was created to solve these problems. Today, it has grown into one of Japan’s leading apartment hotels — with a kitchen and dining space in every room.
Here’s why families from around the world choose MIMARU as their recommended Tokyo hotel for families with children, along with a closer look at what makes our facilities and services stand out.
Bottom Line: If You’re Looking for Space and Home-Like Comfort in Tokyo, MIMARU Is Recommended

APARTMENT HOTEL MIMARU is a recommended hotel in Tokyo for families with young children, including toddlers. With spacious guest rooms starting at approximately 40 square-meters, a kitchen and dining space in every room, tatami areas where guests can relax without shoes (available in select rooms), and the ability to accommodate up to 4 to 10 guests in a single room, MIMARU combines the cleanliness of a hotel with the functionality of a home.
Reason 1. The Comfort of Removing Your Shoes — and the Appeal of Japanese-Style Rooms

At MIMARU, guests remove their shoes at the entrance – a common custom in Japanese homes. This keeps the space clean and safe for crawling babies and young children who want to play on the floor. The “Japanese Apartment” room type features a tatami area, making it a great option for families who are concerned about children falling out of bed.
Many business hotels and luxury hotels follow a Western, shoes-on style, which can be a real source of stress for families with young children who need to sit or play on the floor.
At MIMARU, we embrace the comfort of a Japanese home. Once you take off your shoes at the entrance, you step into a clean, private space that’s all your own. In the popular Japanese-style room (tatami) type, futons can be laid directly on the floor (available at select locations), so even during the co-sleeping stage when bed guards alone may not feel like enough, families can rest with peace of mind.
Reason 2. A Kitchen and Dining Space in Every Room — Freedom to Eat Your Way

Every guest room is fully equipped with an induction cooktop (IH stove), refrigerator, microwave, cookware, and cutlery. Warm up baby food, make a simple breakfast, or pick up ingredients from a nearby supermarket and turn your room into a dinner party — you’re free to eat however you like, without being tied to restaurants.
For families traveling with children, meals are often the biggest challenge. The tension of dining at a upscale restaurant, the nutritional imbalance from eating out every meal, worries about food allergies, and the cost — it all adds up. At MIMARU, there’s a dining table large enough for the whole family to gather around.
Breakfast: Stay in your pajamas and take it at your child’s own pace, right in the room.
Dinner: After a long day of exploring, order takeout or delivery and have a room party.
Baby food: Ready to prepare anytime using the microwave or kitchen.
※ An honest note (something to keep in mind)
MIMARU does not have an in-house restaurant, and breakfast buffets are not offered. But this is a deliberate choice. Instead, we invest in the facilities within your room and give you the freedom to eat what you want, when you want. Every MIMARU Tokyo location is situated within walking distance of convenience stores and supermarkets, so picking up groceries can become one of the fun, memorable parts of your trip.
Reason 3. Space and Layout That Fits the Whole Family in One Room
MIMARU guest rooms are designed to accommodate 4 to 10 guests as a baseline. We offer spacious rooms starting at approximately 40 square-meters — a rarity among hotels in central Tokyo. Whether you’re a family of four, a large family of five or more, or a group, everyone can stay together in one room. Three generations of family or an entire group can share the same space and make memories together, without splitting into separate rooms.
We’re here to challenge the assumption that “Tokyo hotels are small. Our rooms are more than twice the size of a typical Japanese business hotel room, and we offer a variety of room types — twin beds arranged side by side, bunk beds that kids love, and 2-bedroom or connecting room options for those who need more privacy.
“After the kids fall asleep, the adults can unwind over drinks in the dining space.” The ability to use the bedroom and living space separately for a more comfortable stay is one of the unique advantages of MIMARU’s spacious rooms.
For example, a family of four (2 adults + 2 children aged 6 and under) staying in a single room will often find the total cost lower than booking two separate rooms at a typical hotel. ※ The child age policy applies to children 6 years old and under.

By Age Group: Reassurance for Parents Traveling with Babies and Toddlers

What makes MIMARU a recommended Tokyo hotel for families with infants includes the ease of sterilizing baby bottles in the microwave, a spacious entryway with room for a stroller, and floors safe for crawling. For toddlers, MIMARU also offers a well-stocked selection of rental items such as high chairs and step stools.
Whatever challenges come with your child’s age, MIMARU is equipped to handle them with care.
For Families with Infants (Ages 0–1)
Bottle sterilization: Every room has a microwave, so if you bring a dedicated sterilization case, you can easily steam-sterilize bottles right in your room.
Bathing: Most rooms feature a bathroom with a separate wash area (excluding some room types), so you can bathe your baby just like you would at home.
Stroller: Many rooms have a spacious entryway where you can leave a stroller fully open, making it easy to head out without any hassle.
For Families with Toddlers (Ages 2 and Up, Pre-School Age)
Fall prevention: In addition to bed guard rental items, it may be possible to push beds together against the wall or arrange two beds side by side with no gap (※please contact the hotel in advance). In a Japanese-style tatami room, this concern is largely eliminated.
Meals: High chairs (available as rental items) can be set up at the dining table for young children. Having a calm, comfortable space to eat makes a real difference in reducing stress for parents.
The Quality and Hospitality of a Japanese Apartment Hotel

Unlike private vacation rentals, MIMARU has staff available at the front desk at all times and provides daily hotel-standard cleaning and linen change services. With a reliable support system in place, even first-time visitors to Tokyo can stay with confidence.
While “kitchen-equipped” might bring to mind a vacation rental, MIMARU is committed to delivering the reassurance of a true hotel. Used towels are replaced, trash is collected, and floors are vacuumed every day. Regular full guest room cleaning — including all bathrooms and kitchen areas outside the kitchen and bed-making — is also carried out on a scheduled basis. For extended stays, cleaning is provided every two days (beginning on the third night of your stay).
Baby cots and bed guards are available as complimentary rental items. As quantities are limited, please contact your hotel in advance if you would like to request these items.

Nihonbashi / Tokyo Station Area (MIMARU Tokyo Ginza EAST and others): Great for shopping in Ginza, or as a base before taking the Shinkansen to Kyoto or Osaka.
※ There are no pools or spas on-site, but in their place, we’ve focused on choosing locations that put the entire city within easy reach.
