With sightseeing, Japanese cuisine, art galleries, museums, and more to experience, your possibilities are endless in Tokyo.

Every year in mid-September, MIMARU Tokyo Akasaka participates in the Akasaka Hikawa Festival, giving guests the chance to take part in a piece of traditional Japanese culture through the pulling of a festival float (dashi).

※What is a festival float (dashi)?

Dashi are movable floats or shrines decorated with dolls, flowers, and other ornaments during festivals.

At Akasaka’s Hikawa Festival, you will see dashi with motifs of historical Japanese figures and story characters.

Last year as well, guests and staff worked together to pull a dashi while wearing MIMARU happi coats.

Joining in is as simple as holding on to the rope and pulling, so everyone from children to adults can enjoy the experience.

Locals are there to explain everything on the day of the event, so there is no stress!

It’s a rare chance to interact with the locality that is hard to find anywhere else.

Hotel guests can also join the simple gathering held on the hotel’s rooftop after the dashi pulling.

Hotel staff will introduce a few Japanese games.

This is an experience unique to MIMARU where guests of all nationalities gather.

It’s an event that brings our guests closer together.

Why not enjoy a traditional cultural experience on your trip to Tokyo and make unforgettable memories together with MIMARU?
