Food・Shopping・Sightseeing
You can do it all in Shinjuku, the number one entertainment district in Japan.
In fact, there is so much to choose from that you might not be able to decide where to start.
If that sounds familiar, you might be interested in this MIMARU staff-recommended tour!
Explore the lesser-know neighborhoods of Nishi-Shinjuku and Yotsuya-Sanchome for a break from the main crowds.
Just a 10-minute walk from Shinjuku West, you will find this family-friendly restaurant inside Shinjuku Central Park.
Our staff recommend the light and fluffy pancakes if you have a bit of a sweet tooth!
It opens early, so it’s perfect for breakfast or brunch.
You will find something for everyone to enjoy!
11:00 Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1
After you’ve enjoyed your breakfast or brunch, head over to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
Here, you can head up to the rooftop observation deck and take in the Tokyo cityscape for free.
If you’re lucky, you might even see Mt. Fuji!
We recommend trying gyukatsu for lunch.
Since the Yotsuya-Sanchome area is a little ways away from the crowds of Shinjuku, you can enjoy a relaxed lunch, even with kids.
MIMARU staff recommend the sirloin and beef tongue half-and-half plate combination!
13:30 Tokyo Fire Museum
After lunch, stop by the Fire Museum!
You will find fire trucks and firefighter uniforms from the past on display.
You can even sit in the cockpit of a helicopter retired from active use!
It’s a place kids and adults alike can enjoy.
After you’ve had enough fun at the museum, take a little break in the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.
If you’d like to experience Japanese culture, we recommend trying the matcha tea at Rakuu-tei Tea House.
We recommend having it as a set with sweet mochi (a rice cake with filling).
Rest your feet and relax in the traditional Japanese gardens!
Kabukicho has a constant flow of traffic no matter the time.
You are sure to experience the true Shinjuku atmosphere here.
The famous Godzilla head here has a surprise event on the hour every hour from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
It is also the perfect place to buy souvenirs!
Stop by Omoide Yokocho on your way back to MIMARU Shinjuku West for dinner.
The retro atmosphere will allow you to experience yet another face of Japan.
The staff recommend Sushi Tatsu here.
Each and every piece is large and satisfying!
The second floor has table seating available, so families do not need to worry about space. We do, however, recommend making a reservation in advance.
If you have a hard time making a reservation, the front desk staff can help!
