MIMARU is participating in “SDGs Action” alongside our guests, with the goal of becoming a hotel with minimal environmental impact. We ask for your understanding and cooperation as we implement the following policies.
Please bring your own amenities
In an effort to reduce single-use (disposable) plastics, plastic amenities such as toothbrushes, razors, hairbrushes, and slippers are not found in MIMARU. We will provide wooden toothbrushes and slippers only upon request. Please inquire at the front desk if these items are needed. Also, the shampoo and body soap in guest room bathrooms are in refillable pump bottles to avoid waste from single-use bottles. We will continue to reduce plastic waste.
We ask our guests to bring their own toothbrushes, hairbrushes, etc.
If single-use amenities were eliminated from just one hotel, there would be a reduction of 0.5 tons of plastic waste per year.
Toothbrushes: 13 grams each
Hairbrushes: 14 grams each
Razors: 4 grams each
Amenities for 3 people (124 grams) × 50 guest rooms × 100 parties of guests = about 0.5 tons of plastic waste reduced per year
※The above numbers are for demonstration purposes. Actual amenity usage differs.
Eco-friendly cleaning for multiple-night stays
MIMARU saves resources by minimalizing cleaning and bedmaking for reservations longer than 2 nights. We change towels, empty the trash, and refill in-room amenities daily, but we change bedsheets, make beds, and vacuum once every 3 days.
※Additional cleaning is available for a fee. Contact the front desk for details.
※The cleaning policy may differ for long-term stays.
Help save electricity and water
MIMARU uses less energy and water than other hotels by offering only simple hotel services. In order to focus our resources on the necessities such as guest rooms, the front desk, the lobby, and laundry facilities, we do not have facilities such as restaurants at our hotels. We also strive to reduce CO2 emissions by using renewable energy whenever possible.
In the future, we will continue to reduce energy use by adjusting cooling and heating temperatures and leaving the air conditioners and lights off in rooms where guests have not checked in. When guests first enter their room, the room may not be the ideal temperature, but we ask for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to work to reduce energy use and CO2 emissions.
