Cosmos Initia Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Ryotaro Takachi), a member of the Daiwa
House Group, together with Cosmos Hotel Management Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo;
President: Hideki Fujioka), hosted a unique overnight event at the apartment hotel MIMARU.

Titled “How to Survive the Apocalypse”※1 this one-of-a-kind stay experience took place over two days—February 15 (Sat) and 16 (Sun), 2025—inviting guests to enjoy an immersive and unforgettable night
at MIMARU.
For this special event, MIMARU partnered with Sally Inc. (Head Office: Shibuya, Tokyo; CEO: Eitaro Hiraishi), a company known for creating immersive mystery games called Murder Mystery. Together, we brought to life an overnight experience set not only inside MIMARU but also across the streets of Kyoto.
The event attracted an impressive 132 players, all stepping into the story as participants in a large-scale interactive game. Through this collaboration, guests enjoyed a hotel stay unlike any other—combining travel,
storytelling, and play into a brand-new kind of experience.
As part of our commitment to open innovation, the Cosmos Initia Group actively collaborates with partners
across different industries to create environments where people can live, work, and play “with more joy and
greater peace of mind.”
In this initiative, we teamed up with Sally, a startup specializing in immersive Murder Mystery experiences,
to deliver a new kind of stay at MIMARU.
The collaboration came to life at MIMARU Kyoto Nishinotoin Takatsuji, operated by Cosmos Hotel
Management, where we hosted a one-night-only interactive stay event—a first-of-its-kind hotel experience
that blended accommodation with storytelling and play.
■132 Players Gathered in Kyoto. The Premium Tickets Were Sold Out in Just One Minute.
This special event was designed not only as a game but also as a way for participants to naturally experience the beauty and history of Kyoto. Players who secured the highly coveted premium tickets, came together in
the ancient capital for an unforgettable adventure.
Over the course of three stages, the game unfolded across Kyoto’s streets and landmarks, with the grand
finale taking place inside an entire MIMARU property “MIMARU Kyoto Nishinotoin Takatsuj”, which was
transformed into the setting for a large-scale interactive mystery.
<Why MIMARU Was the Perfect Stage for This Event>
・Longer playtime, deeper immersion
Because the event was designed as an overnight stay, the storyline could be made more complex, allowing
players to fully lose themselves in the mystery.
・Spacious rooms for group play
With every room designed to host four or more guests, larger groups were able to join the game together,
making the experience even more dynamic.
・Face-to-face strategy and discussion
Each apartment is equipped with a dining table, creating the perfect setting for players to gather,
hold strategy meetings, and debate theories—adding an extra layer of realism to the story.
・Exclusive large-scale production
Entire rooms were specially decorated for the event, in-house announcements were used to heighten the
atmosphere, and unique game mechanics—such as gathering winners in separate rooms for the next stage—
brought the excitement to a whole new level. These are experiences only possible when an entire MIMARU
property is dedicated to the game.

<Stage 1> From a Peaceful Gathering to a Deadly Game
The event began in a stunning venue featuring a vast 1,200-tsubo ,roughly 4,000 square feet Japanese garden dating back to the Taisho era, where 132 players gathered. After check-in, participants enjoyed lighthearted
icebreaker games, creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere as they awaited the start.
But what seemed like the beginning of a fun trip to Kyoto suddenly took a dramatic turn. With the opening announcement from the event staff, the atmosphere shifted—and the experience transformed into a terrifying
death game.
Caught off guard, players were thrust into a high-stakes scenario. Each carried the “secrets” and “desires”
written into their character profiles, pushing them to strategize, deceive, and fight to survive as the game
unfolded.
<Stage 2>Turning the Streets of Kyoto into the Game Board
The adventure then spilled out into the streets of Kyoto. Players took on seven Kyoto-themed missions, from searching for hidden masks inside a historic Wagashi (traditional sweets) shop, to solving puzzles using signs outside local stores, and even uncovering secrets in a ninja house.
Moving through the city, each challenge brought a new twist, blending Kyoto’s culture and history with the
thrill of the game. If players managed to solve every puzzle within the time limit, they unlocked the clue that revealed their lodging for the night, and with it, the gateway to the final stage.
<Stage 3>The Final Showdown at MIMARU Kyoto Nishinotoin Takatsuji
The grand finale unfolded inside MIMARU Kyoto Nishinotoin Takatsuji. Once locked inside the building,
players faced a high-stakes challenge of survival and escape. Tension rose as in-house announcements
echoed through the corridors, and the game spread across every corner of the hotel—from guest rooms to
secret chambers to common areas—creating a fully immersive experience only possible when an entire
property is transformed into the stage.
As the story reached its climax, the loudspeakers carried a chilling line:
“What an ending… absolutely amazing! ” With that unsettling declaration, the curtain fell—bringing this extraordinary event to a dramatic close.
Once the main event concluded, several non-guest rooms were transformed into spaces for communication
and connection, while decorated guest rooms opened as photo spots where players could capture memories of the night.
Laughter and conversation filled the hotel as participants snapped photos, exchanged reports of their daring escapes, and shared strategies across different groups and floors. Long after the games had ended, players
continued telling their own “stories,” connecting with one another well into the night.
Even after checkout the next day, the excitement lingered—many guests still carried the afterglow of the
event, a shared memory that extended far beyond the game itself.
