A Prestigious, Long-Established Sukiyaki Restaurant in Kyoto
This is a high-end, long-established sukiyaki restaurant that is highly recognized in Kyoto. There are several stores in the city, and although the JR Kyoto Isetan store was fully booked, I was able to get a lunch reservation at the Shijo Inokuma main store. I had received several requests for guest reservation inquiries and was curious about the restaurant. After reception and taking off my shoes, I was shown to a private room. The private room also has a tatami-mat taste, but with a kotatsu-style table for your feet, so foreign guests can dine comfortably. Sukiyaki is cooked in front of you by the restaurant staff. Although it was only a meal, I was very satisfied with the service, which was just like that of a ryokan (Japanese inn)!
