Gekkeikan is one of Kyoto's famous sake breweries, and this history museum is only a five-minute walk from Fushimi Station on the Keihan Electric Railway.
The first thing to do is to watch a video that will help you learn about the history of Gekkeikan and how sake is made. The explanation is in Japanese, but there are English subtitles so foreign visitors can understand the content.
Finally, visitors can sample some of the sake sold at Gekkeikan. The characteristics of each sake are also described in English. International staff members are also available to answer questions about sake directly in English.
The explanations of the videos and exhibits are all in English, which was a very good feature that not only Japanese but also foreign visitors could enjoy.
