Historic Ryotei Serving Traditional Japanese Cuisine
Hyotei is located in a quiet residential area a short walk from Nanzenji Temple. This is a long-established ryotei restaurant serving Japanese cuisine. The building is divided into an annex and a main building. Passing through a noren (a traditional Japanese door curtain) with a gourd painted on it, you will find the buildings built around a garden. The gentle flavor of this dish was perfect for breakfast. For beverages, we asked for homemade ginger ale. This one had a good amount of ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and hawk's claw. The food and drinks are free of artificial seasonings and sweeteners, so I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy Kyoto cuisine and genuine Japanese food. Reservations are required.
Enjoy nature along the nearby Kamo River, with easy access to Kiyomizu-dera and Gion. On-site facilities include a gym and first-floor kids' play area.
Traditional Kyoto charm near local Machiya townhouses. Convenient for sightseeing, with rooms sleeping up to 8 guests, perfect for multi-generational family trips.
