What We Loved
They had a monkey show going on at the castle while we were there. This was an extra surprise which made it even more fun and special.
What Could Be Better
The buses were very crowded, and we couldn't find seats/had little space to stand.

New Discoveries Await on a Guided Tour of Nijo Castle!
One of the must-visit world heritage sites. Though it is rich with history and art, it is better to go there with a guide. Ninomaru is worth the extra fee, especially with a guide. The guide will tell you about the interesting facts, backstory, and fascinating arts within Nijo Castle. Although Honmaru is limited due to renovation, you can still enjoy Ninomaru at its fullest.

Enjoy a Blend of Traditional Architecture and Modern Art
The combination of the traditional Japanese atmosphere of Nijo Castle and the contemporary floral motif of projection mapping was a mind-blowing experience. Signs are in English, although staff are guiding visitors in Japanese. If you have not purchased a ticket in advance, it can also be purchased at the ticket office. After buying a ticket, enter through the entrance and follow the route to enjoy the garden at night, so overseas visitors should have no particular difficulties. If you go at 18:00, which is the opening time, there are many people queuing to get in. It gets very crowded at once, so we recommend that you enter after 19:00. As the day we visited was a Sunday, it was very crowded, and we had to queue to get a good spot to take photos.
