Experience Traditional Maiko Kimono with Professional Photography
The nearest station was Gion-Shijo station, but I walked from Kawaramachi station. When it was time for me to change, I was given a pair of undergarments and tabi (socks) to wear under my kimono and shown to the changing room. There were multiple washrooms, complete with hair dryers and other amenities. After that, I moved to the dressing room, where they cared for my makeup and dressing.
You can choose from photos and actual kimono in several colors. I chose the one recommended by the staff. I had three poses taken by a professional photographer because I was on the room plan this time. During my free time (about 10 minutes), I took selfies in the garden, and the person in charge of me was very considerate of the fact that it would have been challenging to take pictures alone and took several photos for me. Everything went smoothly from reception to payment, and I could enjoy the tour by myself. I am glad that I was able to experience not only the outward appearance of a maiko but also the behavior of a maiko, which looks simple but is very difficult.
