MIMARU, located in popular areas of Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, has welcomed countless families from
around the world.
During their stay, children engage in hands-on experiences, and family conversations naturally deepen,
and the bonds between parents and children grow stronger.
Through these journeys filled with learning,
MIMARU continues to support children’s development and the strengthening of family ties.
In this article, we introduce ideas for enjoyable travel during school holidays—
whether it’s indoor experiences in summer or seasonal adventures in autumn and winter.
Experiencing the Future Through Cutting-Edge Technology & Ideas
Japan is home to a wide range of facilities that offer hands-on exposure to the latest technology—making it
an ideal destination for STEAM education.
At teamLab Planets in Tokyo’s Odaiba area, visitors can immerse themselves in a world of digital art.
In Akihabara, anime, games, and pop culture await.
In Osaka, the Osaka Science & Technology Center and the Osaka Science Museum offer interactive exhibits that transcend language barriers and naturally inspire curiosity about science and technology.
※STEAM is an educational approach that integrates five fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. It aims to foster children’s ability to think critically and creatively by encouraging hands-on, interdisciplinary learning.

MIMARU Experiences That Nurture Creativity Through Local Culture and Community
● Enjoying Autumn in Japan: A Moment of Art and Nature Among the Autumn Leaves
At MIMARU Kyoto, families can collect autumn leaves and turn them into handmade bookmarks.
This creative activity fosters conversation, imagination, and expression — a keepsake that’s both educational and heartfelt.
● A Heartwarming Winter Experience: Discovering Japan’s Mochitsuki Tradition
At MIMARU, we encourage guests to take part in local traditional events held in the surrounding communities.
For example, in December last year, our staff introduced guests to a neighborhood mochitsuki (rice cake pounding) event near one of our Tokyo locations.
In this Japanese winter tradition, families and locals work together to pound and eat mochi, while praying for a bountiful harvest and good health in the coming year.
