At MIMARU we have assembled a unique team from all over the world to welcome guests and greet them with their individuality. We aim to achieve three core SDGs goals with MIMARU: "diversity in people and work styles," "connection with guests and local communities," and "environmental consideration."

In our pursuit of these goals, we had a wonderful encounter with the cafe "Rendeaf Coffee", who reached out to us with an idea of offering coffee as part of our amenity lineup. Since Rendeaf Coffee is a wonderful and inclusive company that supports people with disabilities, we were thrilled to start this project together and strive towards our aligned goals.
Randeaf Coffee aims to create an inclusive work environment for people with disabilities based on their concept of "coffee and a little social contribution." A cup of coffee ordered by a customer leads to a social contribution that creates employment for people with disabilities. For everyone to be able to connect with this goal, Randeaf Coffee decided to offer delicious, carefully roasted drip bag coffee to our guests that come from all over the world.

Together with Randeaf Coffee, MIMARU would like to offer this opportunity to you to discover diversity and share a bit of kindness throughout the world.

"handpicked",
Delicious drip coffee
A moment that warms body and heart right in your room

"Hand-picking" is the process of carefully removing things such as crushed beans and stones that would cause the taste of coffee to deteriorate. Randeaf Coffee's drip bag coffee has a crystal-clear taste without any unpleasant aroma, since the staff works so hard to make the taste the best it can be. Please ponder a bit about sustainable futures while the coffee warms your body and soul.

Randeaf coffee drip packs are available at the front desk of these MIMARU hotels:

MIMARU asked the owner of Randeaf Coffee about what it means to "contribute to society starting with a cup of coffee."

Q. What was the motivation for opening a cafe in Nishinippori?
A. “A lot of people don’t really interact with people with disabilities in their daily lives, since there are no opportunities to do so. I would like to create contact points to deepen the understanding of people with disabilities. The cafe in Nishinippori is one of those contact points, and since coffee is an integral part of most people's lives nowadays, I hope that customers will interact with our disabled staff naturally."

Q. Why did you decide to start producing drip coffee?
A. “When making drip bag coffee, there is a process called hand-picking, in which each defective bean is separated by hand. It is a process that is easily accessible to people with disabilities, and it gives each bag and coffee a truly handmade feel. In addition, drip bag coffee is widely used in hotels and other places. We hope that our drip bag coffee will give many people pause and reflect on sustainability and people with disabilities as well.”

Q. What kinds of difficulties do people with disabilities face in producing coffee and operating cafes? How do you overcome problems brought forth by different kinds of disabilities so everyone can work together smoothly?
A. “No two people with disabilities have the same symptoms, even if they have the same disease. Some people can do monotonous work; others cannot. So, instead of making detailed rules for the workplace, I take my time and figure out the best way for each individual employee to be able to work to the best of their ability."

Q. What message do you want to convey to the world through your services (support for people with disabilities) and products (café, drip coffee)?
A. “First of all, I want people to realize that there are people with various disabilities in the world. Through our services and products, we hope that you will become aware of the many challenges these people face and that even a small thing like a cup of coffee can be a form of support."

Q. What are the best ways to support people with disabilities and their communities?
A. “When it comes to people with disabilities, it really varies from person to person. As a first step, I volunteered for various opportunities to meet with these communities, in order to be able to view them as normal in my daily life. You will learn what these people struggle with. There are also people who would like support of a kind, and people who don't. It's important to get to know each person individually and not lump them all together."
